In 1966, Lucius Beebe authored the classic homage to heavyweight varnish, The Trains We Rode. In this program we pay tribute to some of the smaller more obscure operations in Northern California and Western Nevada that missed recognition, as well as their main line cousins.

Catenary Video has partnered with the Western Railway Museum in the production of this program, yielding many treasures of 16mm footage digitally transferred to HD. This DVD starts a new series, taking you on a journey to visit both obscure operations, and main line activity, mostly in color, much of which has not been seen.

A new concept in narrative features the use of character voices to enable the viewer to experience the railroads from another perspective. The sound design, superbly crafted in stereo, is a hallmark of Catenary Video’s production quality.

Become a traveler visiting California and Nevada between 1929 and 1959 for an unforgettable tour of The Trains We Missed.
